 Do’s – What to Compost

You can confidently add the following biodegradable materials to your compost bin:

  • Vegetable waste (shredded or in small chunks)

  • Fruit peels and seeds

  • Cooked food scraps

  • Crushed egg shells

  • Cooked non-veg waste (small pieces)

  • Coconut fibre

  • Soiled food

  • Tea bags & coffee grinds

  • Leaf plates, garden waste, small twigs

  • Puja flowers and garlands

Collectively, these materials break down efficiently and enrich your compost, thereby enhancing its nutrient content.

Don’ts – What Not to Compost

However, avoid placing the following items in your compost bin:

  • Coconut shells

  • Spoiled food packets or spoiled milk

  • Large chunks of fruit

  • Sanitary napkins, diapers, bandages

  • Blood-contaminated items

  • Glass, wires, fabrics, leather, rubber, thermocol

  • Plastic bags, metal, e-waste, hazardous waste

  • Debris, recyclables, or dry waste

Otherwise, these items can interfere with decomposition and may contaminate your compost.

How to Use the MyGreenBin Community Composter

Step-by-Step

  1. To begin, spread a 1 cm layer of Greenrich Microbes at the bottom of the bin.

  2. Next, add 3 inches of waste and sprinkle microbes evenly on top.

  3. Then, continue layering 3 inches of waste followed by microbes until the bin is full.

  4. Every third day, drain the leachate from the tap provided.

  5. After that, mix the leachate with water in a 1:10 ratio and use it as a Bio Booster for your plants.

  6. Once full (typically after 30 days), close the bin and cover the top layer with microbes to initiate composting.

  7. Meanwhile, begin the same process in the second bin.

  8. Finally, by alternating the use of bins, you ensure a continuous supply of rich organic manure for your plants and garden.
